Merlin Missions are more challenging adventures for lovers of the original Magic Tree House books! Time-travel through history with Jack and Annie while practicing your language arts skills with new friends! In this exciting book club, we will meet once a week to discuss the Merlin Missions book of the week. I have taught a highly successful original Magic Tree House book series on Outschool for the past year and wish to expand my class offerings now to include the Merlin Missions books. I have educated children for over 20 years both as an ESL teacher and as a homeschool educator teaching a variety of subjects including English, Science, History, and Cooking for grades K-12. I also taught ESL (English as a Second Language) online for over 2 years with VIPKid. I am TESOL certified and hold a Minor in English Literature from the University of California at San Diego.
Students should read each week's book before class and be prepared to discuss.
Students will need the Merlin Missions book of the week for each class. They can be bought online, from a local store, or checked out from your library. E-book versions are also acceptable. Please contact the teacher for buying suggestions, if needed. In order for students to participate in the game, they will need a second device such as a phone or tablet to use the Kahoot App.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
These books are highly appropriate for young readers but do contain mild peril situations that are resolved by the end of the story (happy endings).
