Class Experience
This one-time course is designed to help students develop well-crafted, interesting sentences or support their reading comprehension skills. The session will be personalized to the student's needs and goals. We may discuss strategies to allow writers to convey their message clearly and effectively. Students are encouraged to participate in class through writing and discussion of their writing. Students may also bring writing that they have previously completed in order to receive...
Possible learning goals include: Students will learn the different types of sentence structures (simple, compound, complex). Students will learn how to correctly punctuate each sentence type. Students will learn how to effectively create sentences to convey their message. Students will learn how to give and receive constructive feedback about their writing. Students will learn how to edit and revise their writing to improve it. Students will learn strategies for pre-writing and organization. Students will learn strategies to improve their reading comprehension. Students will learn strategies to decode unknown words. Students will discuss thematic elements of literature.
Please come prepared with any specific materials you may need for discussion and/or feedback. If possible, please notify the tutor ahead of time if there are specific materials to prepare for class (i.e. Title of book for discussion, writing sample, etc.).
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
