**The March course will consist of two 75 minute meetings. The first will focus on multiple choice and the second meeting will focus on the written response questions. New York State Education Department stated the ELA tests would begin the week of March 29th: http://www.nysed.gov/memo/state-assessment/2021-22-elementary-and-intermediate-level-testing-schedule

This 4 week course will focus on test strategies students require for New York State's Engage NY English Language Arts assessment. I also utilize California assessments as well and per request (if possible to locate online) other state assessments as well!
The first 2 classes will focus on the reading comprehension questions and discussing what the test asks, how to read the stories provided (this applies to any text learners are exposed to involving reading and comprehending), and defining unknown vocabulary terms using context clues. The second two classes will continue reading comprehension. strategies but those that involve written responses. Students will work on how to analyze text as well as how to answer questions about the text by utilizing textual evidence provided in the passage. Students will also begin practicing the writing skills necessary to write a persuasive or claims based argument and utilizing strategies to build an argument that include a clear claim/statement, supporting evidence, and counter evidence against opposing sides.
