35 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
I will be reading a very high interest, early reader, short Unofficial Minecraft Easter Spawn Egg Hunt book during this class. Your learner does not need to be able to read in order to take this class. A love of Minecraft is all that is needed for our discussion. 🙂 During this fun and highly interactive read aloud, discussion (verbal/ nonverbal), and enrichment, learners will have the opportunity to be actively involved in sharing their Minecraft experiences related to the story, including critical thinking and problem solving. We will connect the book topic to early elementary library media, language arts, and STEAM skills, including parts of a book, story elements, sequence of events, setting, character traits, Minecraft animals and their spawn eggs, friendship (and usual lack thereof), springtime, and creative expression. Your learner will connect character traits in relation to their own. Learners will have the opportunity to create their own EPIC Minecraft egg using words or whatever art/craft/building items they prefer. An optional coloring template that I created is attached to the welcome post. Notes: This class has a Minecraft focus of friendship during a Minecraft style Easter egg hunt. Outschool is strictly secular, and the religious holiday of Easter is not a focus of this class. Minecraft animals and their behavior in the game will be discussed. For example: Typically, a wolf would defeat a rabbit and a fox in Minecraft and a Creeper is not friendly. In this book and this class their friendship is represented, however their typical behavior will be discussed. In Minecraft two tamed (heart mode) animals will reproduce. This topic may also be mentioned by learners. Learners do not need to have independent reading skills, nor a copy of this book for this class. We will not be playing Minecraft during this class. The book, The Easter Spawn Egg Hunt: An Unofficial Minecraft Easter Story for Early Readers, is used with expressed permission from its author Anna Kopp. This book and class are not official Minecraft products and are not approved by or associated with Mojang.

Supply List
One printable document I created for this class (optional, may be replaced with blank piece of paper) and coloring/art/craft/sculpting dough supplies of your learner's choosing. Note: This document is very colorful, consider printing in B&W, or having your learner draw/craft/build/describe the egg/spring day element in whatever way they prefer.
