Science enthusiasts and engineers, in this three part class, we will explore the fundamentals of an egg drop. We will learn and discuss the physics behind gravity, how to protect the egg and what forces we are dealing with. We will do this through, fun hands on and interactive egg drop physics lessons, where all students will have the chance to participate up to their own comfort level. Let’s explore Newton’s Laws of Gravity, learn new vocabulary words like velocity and acceleration and how they apply to our egg, and our everyday life. Day 1: Students will be learning all about Newton’s Laws and the physics that will apply to our egg drop. We will look at different prototypes and discuss different outcomes, based on our physics knowledge. Students will then help me and instruct me on how to put together my egg drop, using only the materials shown. We will watch together what happened to the egg drop design we worked together on in the first class. We will play a Gravity Again? trivia game and then begin work on our own egg drop devices in the remainder of the class. Students will be encouraged to continue working on their egg drop devices after class and can then do the egg drop at home and document their findings. Be prepared, it could get a little messy! Day 2:Share your findings. We will all discuss what materials we used and our different outcomes. We can share our log or any pictures we took of the experiment or your egg drop devices we made. We will then play Physics Jeopardy based on our findings and make sure we understand Newton’s Laws based on our own egg drops.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi Friends!
Welcome to my classes! I look forward to working with your child in an educational, multi-sensory, interactive and fun environment.
In addition to my educational experiences and training, as a mother of two daughters and a son, and a grandmother of a twelve year old grandson and eight year old granddaughter, I know how important the classroom experience is for every child. Using the best practices in learning and years of teaching experience I create classes so every child can be successful!
One of my favorite mantras is from George Evans, "Every child can learn. Just not in the same day or in the same way."(having three very unique children taught me that quickly). That's why my teaching style is not as important as your child's learning style. All of my classes use this philosophy to blend multi-sensory activities with a student centered learning experience unique and specific to students individual needs.
Learning is an adventure, that should be educational, fun and memorable. I will be the tour guide, pointing out interesting facts and information to guide and structure our journey but your child is the tourist who will visit new things, maybe revisit old places to be reminded of what they already knew about those places and things, have fun with other tourists they meet with similar interests, create new memories and souveniers based on the information they have seen and gathered, and discuss all the knowledge and skills they will find along the path.
