US Grade 3 - 4
In 3rd and 4th grade math, students develop a solid foundation in multiplication, which is essential for math proficiency. They'll start by creating arrays to visualize multiplication concepts. This understanding will then be applied as we introduce fractions. Additionally, students will explore practical math applications, including counting and problem-solving with money. This is a rigorous course where students are expected to come to class fully engaged and prepared to work. Hands-on activities are provided, assignments, and opportunities for students to learn from each other. I model and think-aloud for learners and then provide the majority of the session for students to practice, collaborate, discuss, and engage in activity.
Learning Goals
Students will learn their multiplication facts and division to fluency, including the underlying processes of multiplication and division.
Students will apply their knowledge of multiplication and division to generate equivalent fractions and compare fractions.
