Description

Class Experience

This course will focus on the history and creation of EDM (or electronic dance music). Learners will learn about the history of EDM, the history of DJing, and the equipment used in producing electronic music. We will listen to examples of electronic music and learn to differentiate between some of the most popular genres. Learners will become familiar with different instruments and sounds used in electronic music, including the electric guitar, drum machines, and samplers.
Electronic music is such a fun genre for young learners to explore! It requires little musical knowledge and allows students to be truly creative. EDM is a genre I thoroughly enjoy and feel is not taught in standard music literature and theory courses enough! I am excited to offer this class to learners who share my passion for electronic music and DJing!
Guided questions will be shared with the class materials. These questions should be answered and posted to the classroom by Friday at 5pm.
All materials will be provided by the instructor.
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
No formal assessment will be completed.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
