By the end of the class, students will produce a short finished film in which they have chosen single or multiple musical tracks (and sound effects if desired) and have used iMovie's tools to edit accompanying video footage to match and emphasize the beats of the audio tracks.Class Experience
In this single-session course, the focus will be on using iMovie's transitions, different types of cuts, and video filters to match audio files and reflect and emphasize the musical beats or emotion and pacing of the audio tracks. The class will be hands-on, with live demonstration and then time for students to work with the tools themselves, using Creative Commons-licensed content (or their own). Requirements for course: Very basic familiarity with iMovie: e.g. How to splice/cut video, how to add an audio file, how to import video/media. If unsure if existing knowledge base is enough, you can email instructor to confirm (chances are likely that it IS enough to benefit from this course and accelerate your skills!) Students can use either should iMovie for desktop/Macbook, or the iPad/iPhone iMovie app.
