"I'm done!" Is this what the writer in your life shouts but you know they haven't proofread a thing? Proofreading and editing, the last step in the writing process, is often the most challenging to get young writers to complete. In this one time class, students will learn and practice an effective strategy to proofread and edit their writing which can be used on any future pieces of writing they do outside of class. Class will be broken up into the following sections, based on the I Do, We Do, You Do method: *Warm-up Game *Proofreading Lesson *Peer Editing *Independent Practice

Teacher expertise and credentials
Virginia Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Welcome!
I am passionate about instilling a love of reading in children through sharing engaging, high interest texts. The classes I teach are literacy based, and I also offer reading assessments to help parents have a better understanding of their child's reading level and strategies to support them.
I have ten years teaching experience at the elementary level and my Masters in Reading Education from UVA and am certified to teach readers from K-12. I ran the CETA (Changing Education through the Arts) program by the Kennedy Center, at my school and find great value in arts integration.
I believe children should feel that they are valued members of a class in order to do their best learning. Classes should be engaging, interactive and social, especially in a virtual format.
I have two little guys at home and we love to bake, go on nature walks, and we just learned about Geocaching! Oh, and I'm a Penn Stater at heart- We Are!
