In this class, we will discuss the life and work of Edgar Allan Poe, and especially his poem The Raven. We will discuss his life, his poems, his style and symbolism that he uses in The Raven. We will start with a discussion of his life, and work, then read and discuss the poem, The Raven. I will use powerpoint for illustrations and details about his life. Students will learn about the life and work of Edgar Allan Poe, and gain an appreciation for his poetry.
I was an English major and went to college to teach Middle School and High School English. Edgar Allan Poe's work is dark, and I suggest parents review his poetry prior to class. We may read portions from the Cask of Amontillado, The Pit and The Pendulum, or The Tell-Tale Heart, which deals with murder. Please ask if you have any questions.
