Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4
Beginner Level
The purpose of this class will be on English pronunciation. I will try to make this fun, but at the same time focus on specific rules when it comes to "ed" pronunciation. The first half will be on Ed/D/T pronunciation, and the second half will be on tongue twisters. Here is a description of the class in four segments:

1) The first five minutes will be a meet and greet, and breakdown to the student, what we will be covering.

2) The next fifteen minutes will be focusing on Ed/D/T pronunciation. I will first focus on Ed going over the rule of having a D or T before Ed, pointing out to the student the importance of this when it comes to pronouncing the word correctly, ( examples of this would be applauded, demanded, hunted, uncharted ). I will then continue with D and T pronunciation, focusing on the similarities, but also the differences. Both D and T having in common that the E is silent, but the D having a DUH sound ( used, loved, damaged, followed), and T having a TUH sound ( fixed, kicked, washed, slipped ).

3) The following fifteen minutes will be going over tongue twisters in English, where there are four in particular, which I will focus on.

4) The final five minutes I will evaluate the students performance, and take any questions that they may have.

Learning Goals

The focus is on pronunciation. Many students I have noticed think words that end in ed, are all the same. My job is to point out the differences, and in addition make the class fun. Pronunciation is essential, it separates a great speaker from a good one.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been teaching English online since 2018, and I study many languages myself. During my experience I know many students struggle with pronunciation, but it is something that can be overcome. I give the students simple exercises that they can do outside of class to improve their pronunciation, and help them become a great speaker in the process. As I have said, pronunciation in any language separates a great speaker from a good one.
