Eco Warriors

We are going to explore our backyards, neighborhoods, communities and the world for the next five weeks. This class will introduce you to the world of ecology and how we can be Eco warriors and protect our most fragile ecosystems.  Each week we will look at habitat connections, habitat intruders, endangered habitats and habitat conservation. 

Class 1: How do plants and animals live with each other? 
             Activity: Super Heroes
             Materials: Your Super Imagination (legos, playdough, etc)

Class 2:  When You Use Water, do use everything in it?
               Activity: Soaker
              Materials: A glass,Tap water,Red or blue food coloring, A knife (get your parents to help you use the knife), A stick of fresh 
              celery with the leaves still on it

Class 3: How Plastics Affect the Environment 
              Activity: Foamy
              Materials: Cold water, bowl, measuring cup/glass, dishwashing liquid, whisk, mixing spoon, timer, measuring spoon. 

Class 4: What is the Greenhouse Effect? 
            Activity: Bounce Back 
            Materials: soil, 1 lidded jar (tall) 2 thermometers. 

Class 5: How can we help the endangered?
              Activity: Too Much, Too Fast
              Materials: scissors, 2 dishwashing sponges, large bowl, tap water, small tea strainer, small bowl, and a large strainer 

*all activities are optional. The thermometers can be purchased through Amazon, dollar store or your local drugstore (not expensive ones).
