Many kids today love nature but feel anxious about climate change. They may struggle with overwhelming emotions, uncertainty, or even frustration about the future. Without a safe space to talk about these feelings, they can feel alone or discouraged. Eco-Girls: Support & Community for Nature Lovers is a welcoming, uplifting space where kids can connect with others who care just as much as they do. This ongoing class helps them process their emotions in a healthy way, find hope, and explore positive actions they can take—all while building friendships in a supportive and creative environment. What will be taught? This class is all about helping kids navigate their feelings about the environment while finding encouragement, support, and community. We focus on emotional resilience, climate hope, and small, meaningful actions that empower kids to feel hopeful rather than overwhelmed. What topics will you cover? - Understanding climate emotions like worry, frustration, and eco-anxiety - Finding uplifting stories of young activists, scientists, and communities making a difference - Creative storytelling, journaling, and art as a way to process emotions - Connecting with nature through simple mindfulness practices - Exploring small actions kids can take to feel empowered How is your class structured? Each week follows a flexible structure with a mix of guided discussion, storytelling, and creative expression. Sessions begin with a check-in and icebreaker to create a sense of connection. Then, we explore an inspiring story or discussion topic, followed by a hands-on creative activity such as journaling, drawing, or reflection. Every class includes open sharing time where kids can talk about their thoughts, ask questions, and find support. How will you teach? This is a student-led, interactive class where kids guide the conversation while I provide structure and encouragement. Sessions are engaging, discussion-based, and designed to be fun while still offering valuable emotional support. We focus on solutions, hope, and positivity, ensuring that every child feels heard and inspired. What's your teaching style? My approach is warm, welcoming, and interactive. I create a space where kids feel comfortable sharing their thoughts, asking questions, and expressing their creativity. I emphasize listening, encouraging, and helping kids shift from feeling overwhelmed to feeling empowered. How much will learners get to interact with you? Learners will engage directly with me and with each other through live discussions, guided reflections, and creative activities. Every session includes time for sharing and support, ensuring that all voices are heard. This isn’t just a class—it’s a community where kids can connect, feel supported, and leave each session feeling lighter, more hopeful, and ready to take small steps toward making a difference.
