World War II is an important historical event that is covered in history classes today. This course is designed to introduce readers to what life was like during this time period and basic information about the war. Through completing class activities, students will practice reading comprehension skills with an informational passage and a grade level novel (Number the Stars by Lois Lowry) by using effective note-taking skills, identifying plot events, describing characters, determining problems, defining vocabulary words, recognizing themes, and writing a RACE response with text evidence (quotes). The teacher will review submitted work and Blooket scores and provide weekly progress report messages on Fridays (if work was completed).
