Class Experience

In this follow-on class to Eat Like a Boss, students will learn more about the benefits of eating whole, nutrient dense foods. We will discuss how we can learn to enjoy healthier foods by looking at dishes from different cultures and changing our mindset about what we think tastes good and what we think tastes bad. Why is it that we like one food but not another? Can we learn to like different foods? Can we really be the boss of what we eat? We'll talk about "eating a rainbow," a colorful assortment of fruits and vegetables and discuss the benefits we obtain from eating a variety of foods. I'll give students some suggested ways to eat foods for snacks and meals. We will also take a closer look at sugar hidden within fast foods and soft drinks as students are given the chance to "purchase" a fast food meal for themselves.

I teach my classes using colorful slides that I create myself. Classes are very interactive as I prefer to engage students in the conversation and have them participate actively in the discussion. I've found that they ask the most amazing questions when given the opportunity.

This class will include a list of easy recipes and snack ideas for kids to make and enjoy at home. Though I highly recommend that students complete "Eat Like a Boss: Learning Mindfulness for Excellent Nutrition" before enrolling in this class, it is not required. However, I may, at times, briefly refer back to something that was taught in the first class.

I’ve been studying health and nutrition on my own for over ten years. I became interested in it when I was experiencing my own health problems and was looking for answers outside of medication. In November of 2019, I began my studies and received my health coach certification from the Primal Health Coach Institute in the spring of 2020. I have also run several nutrition groups on social media and have helped friends and family members to clean up their diets and improve their health.
