In this one-time class, students will learn the importance of choosing real, whole foods that nourish and support their growing bodies. Using colorful slides that I've created on Canva, we will talk about the differences between whole foods and processed foods, including types of foods to avoid and types of foods to eat more of. I love to ask kids a lot of questions to get them thinking about what they're learning. They will have plenty of opportunities to answer questions, tell me what they think, and make choices about different foods based on what we're learning. I've created a few games to make learning fun, engaging, and meaningful as they practice making better food choices for themselves. They will learn about the digestive tract and how to keep it healthy. We'll take a good look at sugar, how it's processed, and what it does to our bodies. Students will get a chance to see how easy it is to take an unhealthy recipe and swap out a few ingredients to make it more nourishing. I’ll even send them home with a healthy cupcake recipe. They will learn how to make better choices for snacks and meals, and we will look at a delicious menu plan for an “eat like a boss” birthday party. This class is designed to get kids excited about taking care of their bodies and to help them understand that eating healthy can be delicious.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree from Texas A&M University
I’ve been studying health and nutrition on my own for over ten years. I became interested in it when I was experiencing my own health problems and was looking for answers outside of medication. In November of 2019, I began my studies and received my health coach certification from the Primal Health Coach Institute in the spring of 2020. I have also run several nutrition groups on social media and have helped friends and family members to clean up their diets and improve their health.
