We will dive into this awesome book and introduce your child to classic characters Peter and Fudge. Students will read the required chapters ahead of time and class time will consist of a comprehension discussion and vocabulary instruction. Students will learn how a character's motivation and traits impact the plot, and we'll make a connection to students' own writing and to other books that they are reading (Standards for 3rd, 4th and 5th grades). I have taught Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing as a touchstone text for years, and it always catches students' attention and helps them learn to love reading - which is my number one goal as a reading teacher! If your child loves to laugh, this is the book for them!!
3 files available upon enrollmentParents will need to provide the book, which can be purchased at any book store or borrowed from the library. Students will also need a notebook and pencil. Handouts will be provided by the teacher, and you will want to print them.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
