Description

Class Experience

The student will learn how to bake cookies while developing measuring skills. They will also learn how to bake safely and the importance of cleaning up.
I love baking and cooking. I have been a scientist for over 20 years and the last ten have been in the classroom. I love how chemistry is everywhere, including the kitchen! I also developed the culinary and nutrition course at the school I work at.
We are making easy vegan chocolate chip cookies. Here is what you will need: INGREDIENTS: white flour baking soda salt sugar brown sugar dairy free chocolate chips (some semi sweet are dairy free) or regular for non vegan nondairy milk or regular milk for non vegan vegetable oil vanilla extract KITCHEN SUPPLIES: Mixing bowl and spoon Measuring untensils Baking sheet / cookie sheet Nonstick cooking spray / or nonstick parchment paper Spatula Oven mitt Butter knife (not necessary but helpful to accurately measure the flour) Cooling rack( recommended but not necessary)
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
This is a baking class, so students will be working with an oven. Parents may need to be near for younger students to ensure proper kitchen safety. If your child has allergies or dietary restrictions, please contact me to find a replacement. These cookies can also be made as non-vegan cookies.
