Description
Class Experience
Every week, students will need to read the instructions, watch the video lesson, answer questions, complete the week's project, find Ollie, and post a photo or video of their project on the discussion board. Students can have fun with their photos or make an "instructional" video describing their projects.
Students will need pins or sewing clips, scissors, thread, sewing machine needles, sewing machine, iron, fabric, keyring, zipper, fusible lining, and fiberfill. I have used cheap pillows from Wal-Mart because the filling is exactly what you need for a pillow and the fabric shell can be used later to make patterns so there is no waste. It is an affordable option if you are only making one pillow. An ironing board, rotary cutter, and cutting mat are helpful but not required. Most fabric stores will allow you to buy fabric by the 1/4, 1/2, 3/4, and full yard. This is a great way to get many colors and patterns without having a lot of excess fabric when you're done. A yard of fabric is 36" deep but the width can vary depending on the manufacturer. It is typically 54" wide but some can be 40", 42", or 48". We will discuss this in class during week one but wanted to include this information so you can gauge material costs.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
No live meetings, and an estimated 2 - 4 hours per week outside of class.
Students will need to use scissors, needles, a sewing machine, and an iron to complete this project. Please be sure you are comfortable with your student handling these materials.
