Sewing is a life skill that every child should learn! This 5-day live class is a fun way to stay busy during those hot summer days. If you've been hoping to learn some basic sewing skills, familiarize yourself with your machine and learn how to improve your sewing, this class is for you! We will meet online for 5 consecutive days, completing a new project every day! If you need to miss a day you can make use of our class recording and watch it on your own schedule, then start a new project...
I have worked as a professional sew artist and embroiderer, and am passionate about sharing my knowledge with anyone desiring to learn the very useful skill of sewing. I have several machines at home to demonstrate on, use a second camera to provide a closer view of my hands and machine, and have a playlist of videos that I have made to demonstrate some of the more difficult sewing skills if needed. I offer a 6-week beginner sewing class that has been highly successful on Outschool.
1 file available upon enrollment- Sewing machine (must be a working machine, not a toy or handheld "portable" sewing gadget) - Basic sewing tools, thread and notions (hand needles, pins, pincushion, fabric scissors, seam ripper, etc). You can purchase a full kit from any sewing store if necessary. - Zipper (9" or longer; it can be trimmed down in class) - Fabric (2 fat quarters of quilting cotton/woven fabric for pillow and pouch. 1/2 yard of woven quilting fabric or canvas for shopping bag) - Poly-Fil stuffing (batting for pillow) - Felt (at least 2-3 sheets in different colors) - Keychain keyring - Assorted buttons (for plushie and cozie). If adding buttons as the "cherry" for ice cream plushie, pick a red or shaped button! For the cozie you can choose any size or shape. - Hair elastic (for cozie) - Optional: Beads and other decorations, such as trim, ruffles, etc.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
4 hours 35 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
