In this class, I'll share a funny Halloween poem, 'Halloween is Nearly Here' by Ken Nesbitt, with my students in order to spark their imagination. Together we'll have fun exploring some simple poetic techniques, then students will experiment with ideas to write a poem of their own. This course is ideal for students with little or no experience of poetry writing, students who find poetry writing difficult, and also students who already enjoy writing poetry. The emphasis will be on having fun with words. My step-by-step approach will enable every learner to feel more confident and able to write poetry of their own.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how language patterns can be used in poetry writing.
Students will learn about the technique of rhyming in poetry.
Students will practice the above techniques and apply them in their own poetry writing.
