Easy, No-Bake, Spooky Dessert (Ages 9-12)

In this fun class, we will learn how to make a "spooky" dessert while we practice following directions and make this tasty Halloween Treat.

Class Experience

Students will improve their understanding of the important life skills of basic cooking methods, measuring liquids, and food preparation. 
There is no official homework. However, this recipe will need to chill in the refrigerator for at least an hour before it's ready. So please allow time for that. Students will also need to insert decorated cookies into top of dessert just before serving, add candies/decor, and drop large spoonfuls of remaining whipped topping onto dessert to resemble ghosts. There is also the necessary time involved with preparing a shopping list and purchasing the ingredients. 
Tools and Equipment: 
1 Baking dish (13x9 inch)
1 Liquid Measuring cup (Any size between 1-3 cups will work.)
1 Rolling pin (or an unopened can of soup)
1 Medium to Large sized Mixing bowl
1 Large spoon
1 Zipper style plastic bag (gallon sized)

2 pkg Instant Pudding Mix - Chocolate Flavored (makes about 4 servings per package)
3.5 cups of cold milk (or dairy-free milk) - I'll be using Almond Milk. 
1 Tub of Whipped Topping - THAWED (12 ounces) I'll be using Truwhip, which is gluten-free. The container says 9 ounces. So you may want to get 2 tubs.)
1 pkg of chocolate sandwich cookies (16 ounces) - I will be using Gluten Free Oreos. This package is labeled as 14 ounces. But I think it will work fine. 
1 Small package of oval-shaped (or rectangular) cookies for the "tombstones" - I will be using Gluten Free Goodie Girl Breakfast Biscuits. 
1 Small package of Betty Crocker Writing Gel (black) - I will be using Gluten Free Betty Crocker Black Cookie Icing.

Mini Chocolate Chips (for the ghost eyes)
Green Fruit Rollup (for the "grass")
5 Candy Pumpkins (Candy Corn style)

The last four items are for appearance only, and not a strict requirement. 

Preparation before attending class:
   ~ Please gather all of the items listed above.
   ~ Please wash your hands before we begin. 
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
35 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
~Adult supervision and approval is required for students to handle kitchen equipment and tools to ensure the safety of each student.   
~Adults who are supervising are asked to remain present, but off camera, during class. 
~Learners will be working with ingredients that may contain soy, wheat, eggs, nuts, gluten and/or dairy. 
~Adult supervision and guidance is necessary for any concerns about food allergies that learners may have. Please take appropriate precautionary measures regarding your child's participation. 
~Parental approval and supervision is required for use of the ingredients. Please read all ingredients thoroughly prior to the class to ensure the health and safety of your child. 
~Adults, please consult a physician regarding any possible food allergies your child may have prior to participating in this class.  
~Please be prepared for spills and messes.
