creativity is a very personalized process, I encourage my students to take "Progress photos" so that when done, they can look back at how they transformed a black canvas into a painting. These photos are great visual documentation of their learning. In a year or 5 years, they can look back at their photos and realize how far their skills have come. Thus boosting their morale/ self-esteem to do more creative things.Class Experience
No experience is needed to take this course, Perfect for first-time & Beginner Painters. In this course, Lovejoy will guide you through the step-by-step process to create this fun painting. You will get comfortable with scrapping paint with a palette knife, Layering paint, and creating a design with a brush. The student will also become comfortable with drawing with a brush and brush pressure. The class instruction is 90 minutes long, if students do not finish within that time frame they are welcome to keep working on their own. Through the instruction, they will have a nice foundation to continue on their own. Lovejoy has a very patient and encouraging teaching style, she understands that painting/creativity is unique to each person. She is able to give personalized feedback based on where each student is. Painting is like handwriting, each person has their own unique style. In the first part of the class, The student will be scrapping the background colors on the entire canvas Next, The Student will practice their butterfly design with a brush, on a scrap sheet of paper (while the background drys) Then the student will draw their design on the canvas After that, the student will scrap the outside layers on The final step will be outlining the design with a brush and doing the interior details The demo will be shown via canva slideshow with still images & video Lovejoy will share a step-by-step video in lecture/discussion style through Zoom via a canvas slideshow. The class will progress together through the 90 minutes with questions answered as they come up.
