After this one time class, students will have delicious, easy, homemade pretzels and the recipe to make them again in the future.
Class experience
In this class we will make homemade pretzels from scratch! This recipe calls for only a little bit of kneading and no rising time. It is a perfect intro to baking for younger bakers, or a fun project for older bakers to do with friends. We will discuss good kneading technique, how to judge dough by how it feels, and the purpose of certain ingredients in a recipe. Here are the general ingredients and supplies needed: Flour Yeast Water Salt Sugar egg Course/Kosher salt Electric stand mixer with dough hook OR bowl and plastic or wooden spoon Baking sheet Measurements will be provided before class with enough time to prepare for the lesson.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
We will be using the oven in class, as well as a mixer if you have one. Students should be able to operate these on their own or have a parent close by to help them if needed.
