Do you love to bake? Would you like to try baking but aren't sure how hard it is? Join me! In this ongoing class, we will bake a new delicious treat every week. And the best part is every recipe is simple and I will walk you through every step! Students will learn basic kitchen safety. They will learn how to mix and bake. They'll practice measuring and learn what certain ingredients do in a recipe. They will also learn kitchen and baking terminology that will be helpful in the future when making recipes on their own.
I have been cooking and baking for 20 years. I love to be in the kitchen and I enjoy teaching my family the things I have learned. I am a successful baking instructor on Outschool.
Recipes will be provided for students 2 days before the course date. Week 1: Pretzels - flour, yeast, salt, sugar, egg Week 2: Fudge Cupcakes with Cookie Dough Frosting - flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, powdered sugar, butter, milk or cream, chocolate chips Week 3: Easy Breadsticks flour, yeast, salt, butter, garlic powder, parmesan cheese Week 4: Pizza - flour, yeast, salt, sugar, oil, plus pizza sauce and toppings Week 5: Honey Butter rolls - flour, yeast, salt, sugar, oil, butter, honey, milk Week 6: Banana Bundt Cake with Caramel Frosting - flour, sugar, butter, bananas, sour cream, baking soda, baking powder, butter, brown sugar, vanilla Students will also need cupcake liners on days we make cupcakes, baking sheets, muffin tins, hot pads, bowls, spoons, whisks, mixers, etc. Each recipe is easily adjusted to fit the needs of the student if they are using different equipment than I am.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Students will be using the oven and stovetop, occasionally the microwave, during class. We will teach safe kitchen practices, but students should know how to operate their oven or have someone close by who can assist them.
