40 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one time, class students will learn through an online video chat. This class will be a fun class that will test your child inside and out. They will have to use problem-solving skills as they engineer a design to help their egg have a safe landing. For this class, students will engage in a project to build something out of recycled materials to put their egg in that can survive a drop. We will test their contraptions with the class. ( you can use a real egg in a ziplock bag or you can use a boiled egg). Because not every egg drop device will be successful, after sharing we will do our own egg drop together in which students will for sure see success. Real eggs are welcomed but as they can be messy plastic Easter eggs filled with water are also a good alternative. For classes after Easter, this is a great use for all of those hard-boiled dyed eggs. Students will be able to watch the experiments of others and offer advice to help problem solve.
Learning Goals
The goals are to use and develop new problem-solving skills.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from University of Alabama at Birmingham
My name is Shelby Landreth. I have been in the education field for many years. I was an education specialist at a local science museum teaching home school programs, school programs, and camps of many kinds. I also have experience teaching children with special needs. I have worked with these children in a school setting as well as a clinic setting providing ABA therapy. I also own the organization Creative Minds Learning Center LLC that also hosts classes here on Outschool. If there is a class of mine that you do not currently see available or if the class is sold out you may want to check to see if I have another teacher offering the class there.
I believe that there is no reason that education and life skills cannot be fun since it is an essential part of our daily lives. If you are looking for a teacher that loves teaching and wants to teach your child a concept in a way that they will have fun and enjoy the class, you will find it in my classroom with fun games and projects that promote a lifetime fuel for learning.
