In this one-time class learners will model the rock cycle using Starburst candy. We will cover the formation of the three types of rocks in the cycle- sedimentary, metamorphic, and igneous. Learners will be introduced to the topic via a short lecture and then begin modeling the cycle in a hands-on activity. Learners will be asked to interpret the processes that are happening in the formation of each rock type. They will need the following: 3 pieces DIFFERENT colored Starburst candies 1...
Learners will be able to describe the processes rocks undergo in the rock cycle.
Learners will need the following: 3 pieces DIFFERENT colored Starburst candies 1 piece of wax paper 1 clear plastic bag
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Parents will need to assist with cutting candy and microwave activity.
