This course will describe the science of Seismology, the study of earthquakes, and how the evidence we gather from them has helped us to discover how the inside of the Earth is structured and how it functions. Students will learn about the causes of earthquakes, different types of quakes, and various types of seismic waves that are caused by earthquakes and why those waves are important to distinguish between. After a short lesson about seismology, students will get the opportunity to...
Students will learn about earthquakes and seismology while identifying 1) where an earthquake occurred based on seismic data and 2) what can we say about the inside of the earth, based on what we know about the waves (HS NGSS ESS 2-3)
