Class Experience
Meet with a geologist to receive 1-on-1 help. This tutoring sessions would be great for students taking Earth Science, A.P. Geology, or other related subject. Topics covered could include: Earth Systems, Geology, Meteorology, Planets, Astronomy, and other related topics. You can choose to work on your homework or bring any test review material to the session. My goal is to help you succeed in Earth Sciences and I am committed to doing that in a fun, light, educational environment. My teaching style is mainly to be a guide on the side as we work through and address any questions you many have. This session will be student led as I will allow the student to vocalize any areas of difficulty or particular interest that we can then cover to the extent that the student finds helpful.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Master's Degree in Science from Brigham Young University
Hello! And welcome to my classroom! I'm always excited to meet and encourage new learners. I am a trained educator and have over a decade of teaching experience.
My educational background includes a Bachelors of Science in Earth and Space Science Education and a Masters of Science in Geology from Brigham Young University with an emphasis in Planetary Geology. I have experience as a middle school science teacher. I have also taught at 4 different universities. Classes I have taught include: Meteorology, Geology, Labs, Astronomy, Natural Disasters, Study Skills, and more. I have even taught a course in which I was teaching other teachers how to teach Earth Sciences to their students. I love teaching with a hands-on approach. The more of their 5 senses a student involves in their learning - the more likely it is they will enjoy it and retain the information.
I also have a passion for the arts and music. I have taught piano and the organ for over 10 years. I am actually learning to play the violin right now and I want to inspire my students to be lifelong learners. You're never to old to learn something new. I enjoy listening to music, poetry, literature, and other fine arts.
In my community I have volunteered as a teacher for high school aged students and have enjoyed my interactions with them. I love creating discussion and giving teens a chance to demonstrate their skills and build confidence. Our youth have so much to offer this world.
Finally, I am a homeschooling mom of four. I love my children and have taught them from Pre-K. (So I have literally taught Pre-K - college.) We have enjoyed homeschooling and I have enjoyed learning alongside and spending time with my children.
I love teaching! I believe the best approach to teaching is not to be a mage on a stage but to be a guide on the side. Students tend to learn best in this kind of environment. Thanks so much for taking the time to read my profile and I hope to see you in class!
