Class Experience

Students will learn foundational concepts of earth-space science including:
Plate tectonics, volcanism, geology, sedimentary studies, atmospheric science, and environmental science, geological time, oceanography, reef & ocean ecology, Marine biology, astronomy, and foundational understandings of space and time
I have a bachelors in Environmental Science & Policy from Florida State University, A certificate degree in Urban & Regional Planning, and a minor in Geology.
Students will be given a short case study assignment each week and will be asked to respond to a corresponding prompt. Student responses will be reviewed by the instructor who will then provide feedback in the form of facilitated group discussion at the start of class.
Basic school supplies should suffice, though students may want to dedicate place to take notes for this course.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Learners are assessed by informal assessment. Students who show understanding of the course content, remain engaged, participate in class discussions, and ask questions will be assessed to have successfully completed the course.

If your learner has special assessment requirements please reach out before the start of the course. We are happy to work with the needs of parents, organizers, charter schools, and homeschooling programs.
1 hour 40 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
