The class will complete an activity and/or demonstration of how a fossil can be formed. Other information will be communicated by discussion and lecture, PowerPoint presentation, notes and diagrams, and video clips. Students will be taught the main divisions of Geologic Time/History, and identifying features (rock types and fossil organisms) of these divisions. If the child wishes to participate in the "making a fossil" activity, they will need the following: paper cup plaster of Paris (available at a craft store) water plastic spoon or something to stir with petroleum jelly small solid object, like a coin or toy, of which to make a "fossil" All notes sheets and diagrams will be provided, and should be printed out before the class begins.
