Homework
1 hour per week. We will complete experiments/activities as a class. As a check for understanding, students will be given the opportunity to work at the end of our class time, but if they don't get finished, they may complete after class as well.
Assessment
Progress will be assessed with discussion and independent practice.

Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 2
In this course, we will describe how the Earth supports life and why it is important that we keep Earth clean. Students will listen and explore to differentiate between natural and man-made resources. They will identify and label the uses of land. Students will listen and explore to understand the water cycle. They will describe effective ways to care for the Earth. Students will ask and answer questions to gather knowledge about summer, fall, winter, and spring. They will also describe multiple types of storms.

The class will be structured with an introduction that accesses students' prior knowledge on different Earth-related topics. then move into the main Science lesson. We will conduct a short experiment, then finish with an independent practice activity.

Each class session will have a lesson objective that we will discuss at the beginning so students have a clear focus as we begin. 
Each week we will cover the following topics:
Week 1: Natural & Man-Made, Uses of Land
Week 2: Water Cycle
Week 3: Caring for Earth and Summer
Week 4: Fall and Winter
Week 5: Spring and Storms

Other Details

Parental Guidance
We will be doing a variety of experiments/activities that require additional supplies. The supplies are listed below and we will be using a few of them each day, not all at once. I will have a breakdown of what we need per class session.
Supply List
There will be several experiment-type activities throughout our class. Students will need the following materials:
- 1 empty milk carton
- 1 heat lamp or light bulb
- cling wrap
- clear tub or container
- water
- pitcher
- blue, white, and clear beads
- pipe cleaners or string
- tape or glue
- glitter (optional)
- food coloring (optional)
- 2 empty liter bottles

There will also be independent activities that will require a pencil, paper, coloring utensils and scissors.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
