During "Earth Day: Greta Thunberg and Climate Change", students will explore and enjoy enthusiastic read-a-loud about climate activist Greta Thunberg. Students will have the opportunity to interact with the teacher and students through engaging and thoughtful questions throughout the class. Class Structure: 1) Hellos & Book Introduction 2) Pre-Reading Strategies & Questions 3) Teacher Read-A-Loud 4) Embedded Reading Comprehension & Story Prediction Questions 5) Post-Reading Discussion & Reflection As a group, we will discuss ways that we can help and protect our environment, like Greta. We'll also discuss climate change and Greta's Friday School Strike movement.
Learning Goals
Students will be able to:
- Ask and answer questions about Greta Thunberg and climate change
- Use story details and illustrations to describe characters and events
- Relate the story to real-world situations
- Define new vocabulary in a text
- Practice discussion techniques in a safe and monitored setting

Younger students may need technical assistance or parent supervision during class.
Supply List
All curriculum will be provided by the teacher. Students will not need to print or access any other material. Occasionally, a follow-up Youtube video will be sent to learners.
