Beginner Level
The students will be taught step by step how to draw and create their own Venn Diagrams. They will then listen to a story or a poem, look at photos and discuss how the amphibians or insects are the same and different. We will discuss how they compare and contrast. The students will be given time to share what they know about the topic. The Venn Diagrams will be created using pictures, words, or both words and pictures. At the end of each class, the learners will be encouraged to share their Venn Diagrams with their classmates, if they feel comfortable. When they are finished, the students will have a Venn Diagram that compares and contrasts two amphibians or insects to hang up for everyone to admire! The lessons do not build on each other, so feel free to enroll your learner for any lesson. ~Week 1~Compare and Contrast FROGS and TOADS ~Week 2~Compare and Contrast MOTHS and BUTTERFLIES ~Week 3~Compare and Contrast LADYBUGS and ANTS ~Week 4~Compare and Contrast HONEY BEES and PEOPLE

Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom.
My name is Betty Nilssen. 💕
I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade, full inclusive classrooms. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power.
However, I always incorporate math, writing, drawing, social studies and science, including magnets and animal life cycles into all of my lessons, as well.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers. My mom was also an educator.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw. Let's get started!
Enroll your Early Childhood Education student and your child will further develop an academic foundation and gain academic confidence with a love of learning. Your child will be a life time reader!
Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you are looking for different times or dates for classes.
I can't wait to work with you and your child and further a passion for learning!
