Welcome to my class! If your student knows their initial letters (A-Z), then this course is ideal for them! It is the next stepping stone along the way to fluency in reading. During this fun, reading class your child will blend together three letters to make simple words (CVC words). They will identify rhyming patterns and become confident in reading unknown words. By games, colourful PowerPoints, and writing opportunities students will gain a solid understanding of how to blend and segment. This is a vital skill will benefit students throughout their journey to reading fluency. I aim for lessons to be interactive and engaging. I have a fun approach to education and love to hear your child practising their sounding out skills. Every child on my class is valued and I love to hear each child speak in class if they so wish. I am a trained phonics teacher and have taught phonics in intervention groups for 5 years. School inspectors have noted, due to my phonics intervention groups, "Pupils who achieve the standard in the Year 1 check of phonics is above average year on year." (UK-OFSTED Inspection). As this class is on going you can join at any point during the weeks. Hello there!
I am a qualified British teacher living in the U.K. I have taught the 3-11 year old children for over for over 15 years. At present I teach part-time at a local school Here I teach 4-8 year olds Math Mastery and phonics.
My other passion is to teach children about the natural world through drawing and craft.
I am a qualified outdoor educator (Forest School Level 3), and cannot wait to bring the outside into your home. By teaching about the natural world I hope to encourage your child to go out, explore and become passionate about the natural world. Through drawing, natural crafts and stories I would hope to build a connection between your child and the natural world, that will light a spark of love for the outdoors, and will last them a lifetime.
I also love to pass on knowledge about my culture, I am originally from Wales, have lived in Scotland and now live in England... so there will be lots to learn in my lessons about these three countries of the United Kingdom.
I would wish your child to be so inspired by my lessons that they would want to find out more independently about art, nature and different cultures.
