Class Experience

Key Points of our Early Reader Club:
•	Who (Characters): Who do Jack and Annie meet?
•	What (Plot, Story, Timeline): We learn about moving through plots, main ideas and details.
•	When (History): What are the characters wearing? What do they use for transportation?
•	Where (Geography/Setting): Where did we land? What do we see? Is this a real place? We will learn map skills as well.
•	Why (Culture): Time travel is more fun and interactive when we look at the culture.
•	How (Science): Science! Really? These books will have an element of science that we will explore.
•	Why (Moral of the Story/Learning Lesson): The beautiful thing about the Magic Tree House series is the lessons we learn from the adventures of Jack and Annie.
There will be no homework in this class. Students can re-read their class reading for practice. They will be provided with optional worksheets and wacky words.

Jack’s Backpack (Optional After Class Completion): Students can celebrate with their families. I suggest that families offer a Surprise Brag Bag to their child when they complete a book. The Brag Bag can have an item that ignited the child during the book. Suggestions for this book include: stuffed panda, panda mask, flashlight, next book for their reading club, a special snack or a STEM related activity on earthquakes. The Brag Bag surprise depends on the interests of your child. It will build confidence and encourage participation in future book studies.
