In this ongoing course, we will build one syllable words containing a single vowel sound.
Class experience
What will be taught? In this class, we will work on building one syllable words with a single vowel sound. We will work on one sound per week, even if the sound is made with multiple spelling patterns (such as a_e, ai, and ay for long a). What topics will be covered? Students will read 3 letter words with a short vowel in the middle. Students will blend and segment 3 letter words.
I have 12 years experience working in pre-k through 3rd grade classrooms, have a Master of the Arts in Reading with eligibility for a reading specialist certificate. I also have extensive experience tutoring 1:1 and small groups, and am currently homeschooling my own children.
1 file available upon enrollmentYour child will need a moveable alphabet. You may purchase letters tiles or magnets from any educational supply store, or print out the file in the classroom and cut out the letters for your child before class begins. I recommend using cardstock and printing in color because moveable alphabets traditionally have vowels and consonants in different colors. If purchasing, lowercase letters are preferred. My examples will show lowercase letters because they occur most often in print. You may also make your own using rocks, peg dolls, or duplos.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
