This one-time class is a playful way to introduce numbers using a deck of cards.
Class experience
Children will begin the class by introducing themselves! We will learn how to play the game Flip! Each child will need the Aces and numeral cards from a deck of cards. We will use our deck of cards to find all of the numerals. With our decks stacked, when I say, "Flip!" we will each flip over our top card and hold it up. Whomever has the highest number card with get a tally mark! If there is the same number, those players must flip another card. We will keep track, and when someone gets...
Learners will be able to identify their numerals and know which is more than, less than or the same. They will also be following directions and interacting with the other learners in the class.
A sorted deck of cards--only the aces and number cards please.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
