Teacher Samantha, "The Literary Fairy," will help your young student become a better reader by spending time decoding & encoding introductory words in an engaging lesson. This set of classes will focus on recommended foundational words with consonant blends. Blends are letter combinations of two letters that make one sound such as /sh, /qu/, and /ck/. Students will develop their foundational reading skills and be able to spell commonly used words with consonant digraphs. By encoding and decoding words, struggling readers will solidify any previous knowledge and all students can be well-prepared for the next level of reading.
Samantha Fitschen is certified in Early Childhood/Elementary Education in the State of Pennsylvania (US) and a BS from Slippery Rock University. She has pursued her Masters as a Reading Specialist at The University of Pittsburgh. Teaching for over 30 years, Samantha is also a professional actor and obtained her Theater Degree from Roosevelt University in 1992.
Students will be allowed to use the chat periodically in class, for example, to spell their names. Depending on their ability level they may need help with the keyboard to avoid frustration.
