In this one time class, the students will have the opportunity to play with words which will support and motivate towards literacy. Nursery Rhymes such as "Hey Diddle Diddle" and "Hickory Dickory Dock" will be used. The students will manipulate phonemes to create silly, nonsense words. I will bring my Surprise Bag to class and the students will practice rhyming words with the "surprises" in the bag. By the end of the class students will be able to change a beginning sound to create new words and recognize words that rhyme with "clock". This class will also incorporate fun songs that involve those students who love music as well. Shape of the Class: Introductions (2 minutes) Opening Song with Ukelele (2 minutes) Manipulating Phonemes in "Hey Diddle Diddle" (10 minutes) Movement Song (2 minutes) Surprise Bag and "Hickory Dickory Dock" Rhyming (8 minutes) Goodbye (1 minute)

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Applied Linguistics, a TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages) certificate, an Early Childhood Education Certificate and an Education Assistant Certificate and experience working in all of the above fields.
