Try the tools in real lifeClass Experience
Each week learners will explore new tools to help them build and maintain personal relationships. The tools will aide in self advocacy, managing emotions and communicating while being respectful of others. These skills often take a lifetime to build but learning them early and practicing is a great way to build confidence and emotional intelligence that will last into adulthood. Life is about relationships, knowing how to build and navigate them in a healthy way is an important skill in all aspects of life, even when things get tricky. Once we have the tools, we can feel confident and even lead others by example. Usually we need the most help knowing what to do when things get tough or don't go our way. That's where this class comes in. Here's what we'll explore: Week One- Identifying Positive and Negative Behaviors *Games & Introduction * What does it mean to be a good leader and a good friend? *Identifying positive & negative behavior * Practice responding to negative behavior Week Two- Feelings *Games * Why should we talk about our feelings? *Identifying when is safe to share our feelings * Exploring how to handle other's feelings Week Three- Making Mistakes *Games * How do you feel when you make a mistake? *Recognizing how everybody makes mistakes * Sincere apologies Week Four- *Games * Relationship Web *Courage vs. Fear *Putting it all together

Teacher expertise and credentials
New Jersey Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
Master's Degree in Education from New York University
Since the beginning of my graduate studies in Educational Theatre at New York University I've held a strong interest in exposing others to creative ways of learning and providing a platform for self-expression.
I've taught English through Theater to High School students in Zanzibar East Africa (where I was stung by a jellyfish)! I taught Character Study, Shakespeare, Playwriting and Performance at a High School in Newark, NJ. I taught 3rd grade in New Jersey and in North Carolina. I also worked as a Teaching Assistant at the Graduate level at New York University. In between, I've worked as a teaching artist to practice social emotional learning with adults and youth grades K-8. Then, I decided to homeschool my son for preschool while teaching ESL on-line. With my son, I enjoyed helping him explore my love of reading with his natural love of math. I was so excited that he was ready for Kindergarten that I knew I just had to share our curriculum with other families. Now, I am not only sharing my preschool curriculum but other classes from my background as well. I do hope that you find something your learner can enjoy.
