2-4 hours per week. Please note: Students will need to practice a minimum of 2 hours every week to stay on top of class material. Sight-reading fluency is essential to learning class pieces. Weekly practice is essential to learn new material.Assessment
I will offer feedback after students perform an exercise and, if needed, provide suggestions to help the student master the concept. Mistakes are a part of learning a musical instrument! So students should not worry if they play the exercise or a piece correct on the first try. Together we will learn how to progress through new music and learn new musical concepts. Prospective students should be comfortable with sight reading music in the Level 3A Piano Adventures series.Class Experience
Please note: This class picks up where Early Intermediate Piano Level K leaves off. This class has 6 meetings. Prospective students should be familiar with 3/8 and 6/8 time signatures, the eighth note triplet rhythm, the chromatic scale, intervals of 7ths, one-octave arpeggios and the key of D major. Sight reading music is essential to this class so prospective students should be comfortable with reading music in the Level 3A Piano Adventures series (material from Level K). In this class, students will explore contrasts in music: fast passages against sonorous tonal colors and traditional harmonies mixed with contemporary sounds. Please note: We will be using Piano Adventures Lesson Book Level 3B (2nd Edition) for this class. It is a required text for the class.
Learning Goals

Review A minor scales and play an up-tempo piece in the key of A minor. 30 mins online live lesson
Lesson 3:
Energico
Continue to develop the piece from week two that features eighth note triplets and sforzando. 30 mins online live lesson

Motive & Sequence in A Minor
