US Grade Kindergarten - 1
In the Early Guided Reading Group: Levels D & E (Kindergarten and 1st Grade) class, students will embark on an exciting journey to enhance their reading abilities. This class is designed to strengthen decoding, fluency, and comprehension skills, while also nurturing their writing abilities. With a focus on guided reading, students will explore age-appropriate books and develop strategies to decode words effectively. Through interactive activities and discussions, they will enhance their fluency, gaining confidence in reading with accuracy and expression. Comprehension skills will be honed as students delve deeper into texts, analyzing characters, settings, and plot elements. The fluency and decoding focus will be tailored to the individual needs and progress of each student. Additionally, students will have opportunities to improve their writing skills, using the inspiration from the stories they read. Through guided exercises and creative prompts, they will learn how to express their thoughts and ideas effectively, building a strong foundation for future writing endeavors. This class will meet once a week, providing a consistent and supportive learning environment. Whether your child is a kindergartener or a first grader, this class is tailored to their specific reading needs at Levels D & E. Level D readers are typically end of Kindergarten and beginning of first grade. Level E readers are typically beginning-middle of first grade. However, this can vary depending on each child. ***I also offer private tutoring if you think your child would benefit more from 1:1 instruction. I was a classroom teacher for seven years. I taught first grade for five years and second grade for two years. I have my Bachelors in Early Childhood Education and my Masters in Reading Education. I am a licensed Reading Specialist and have Orton-Gillingham training.
