WHAT WILL BE TAUGHT: Spring is here! Let's explore the beauty and awesomeness of this season by listening to fun books and interacting with me. I encourage you to be physically present near your child in case of technical difficulties during our class. CLASS STRUCTURE: I will begin each class by creating a fun & welcoming atmosphere. Next, I will read the book chosen for the current class. While reading the book, learners will be asked such questions related to what is going on in the book, their thoughts about what is happening in the book, and how what is going on in the book may relate to their lives. Finally, I will allow the students to engage while learning about various aspects of the book. TOPICS COVERED: This is a Spring-themed class, so all books read will be age-appropriate and Spring-related. TEACHING STYLE: I am a preschool teacher & I enjoy teaching this age group! Learning is fun and we will definitely have fun while we read and explore during class. One of my favorite parts of teaching is reading aloud to students. I use different voices, props, and physical movement to bring the book to life for my students. My learning philosophy encompasses actively engaging with students while they are learning to ensure that they are retaining the information being taught.
Learning Goals
During class time, students will learn how to use age-appropriate reading comprehension strategies:
1. Recognizing letters and basic vocabulary
2. Learning the elements of a book (cover page, spine, title page, etc)
3. Making predictions
4. Establishing a self-to-text connection
5. Answering questions about the book (and asking questions!)
6. Phonemic awareness through learning tactics such as rhyming and alliteration.

Parental Guidance
I suggest being physically near your child during our class to ensure our class time runs smoothly. Also, if any technical difficulties arise, you should be near your child to solve any issues.

External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Hey, ya'll! I am a preschool teacher, current home educator, & cooperative learning teacher. I enjoy teaching English/Language Arts/Reading as well as Life Skills courses like debate and public speaking. I hold a Bachelors of Science in Business Management, over 100 college hours towards an Early Childhood degree, and multiple professional teacher certification training hours. In 2018, I earned a basic TESOL certification qualifying me to teach English as a second language. Over the summer of 2020, I began teaching online debate courses to elementary, middle, and high school students. I believe that engaging with learners and finding out how they learn best allows me to make their learning experience fun & memorable! As a mom of 5, our house gets a little crazy, but we are always having fun because that's what makes the best memories!
