In this 12-week online music class, students will improve aural skills and general musicality from exercises on melodic and harmonic dictation, ear training exercises, and singing exercises.

Homework
1-2 hours per week. Homework will be assigned weekly to help learners apply the concepts through various exercises. Additionally, there will be recording assignments to further enhance their practice and understanding.
Certificate of Completion
Families may request a certificate of completion once the course has been successfully finished. This certificate serves as a formal acknowledgment of the learner’s participation and achievement, providing a tangible record of the skills and knowledge gained throughout the course.

This course is designed to help develop and improve aural skills and general musicality. It will closely parallel concepts and skills necessary to increase fluency with musical notation and the development of musical memory and inner hearing. Each student will have an opportunity to develop their basic skills through melodic and rhythmic exercises in every lesson. 

Improvement of aural skills will be achieved through the following activities
1. Sight Singing 
2. Rhythmic Dictation
3. Melodic Dictation
4. Harmonic Dictation 
5. Basic Musician Skills
6. Error detection

Learning Goals
Students will learn to listen to short melodies and write them down using musical notes by the end of the course.
Students will be able to hear and recognize common chords and progressions in music, identifying them by ear.

Lesson 1:

 Learners will develop the skills to be able to read three clefs simultaneously by playing two voices and singing one voice between the three clefs that will be studied.

She is an internationally known linguist, teacher, and professional musician who has taught on four continents. Her passion for service stemmed from her work as an AmeriCorps Vista Fellow.
