Get $5 off your first class! Use code: GREENFRST5 This engaging small-group class was specifically created for young learners that would like to learn argumentation and how to debate in a fun and casual environment. We will debate a different resolution each week and every learner will be given the opportunity to share their initial thoughts using a provided speech format. Then, each learner will be given opportunities and encouraged to debate the opposite side in a rebuttal round. This is geared toward encouraging listening, critical thinking, and thoughtful responses. This class will include easy and light-hearted debate topics (are dogs better than cats, etc) that do not require any preparation. Topics are posted in advance and learners are encouraged to think about the topic ahead of the class, and even potentially have some facts to back up their side. This is not required. Please note that we have another Beginner Debate class with more complex debate topics. See details below. The learning objectives are : - Use critical thinking skills to formulate an opinion - Gain the self-confidence to present and defend their opinion - Utilize listening skills to be able to respond to the opposite side. (Listening is just as important as speaking in debate!) NOTE: We also offer a Beginner Debate class that focuses on more complex debate topics (should we ban bottled water, is social media good for kids, etc). You can find that here -> https://outschool.com/classes/public-speaking-and-debate-club-beginners-hbOxf41F#usfWkMy7s8 If your child has debate experience, check out our Intermediate Class -> https://outschool.com/classes/public-speaking-and-debate-intermediate-level-xqNwyqJ6#usfWkMy7s8 This class is backed by Outschool's 100% Happiness Guarantee!
