In my over 20 years of teaching experience, I have found that children learn best when they are able to experience and express the lesson through all their senses. In this Interactive Phonics Program, students will use chants, hand motions, video and fun strategies to learn and then apply their knowledge of how letters and sounds form words and sentences. We will not only blend sounds to form words but also segment them as well. By strengthening their phonological awareness, my students will grow in both confidence and ability. My goal is for no reader to be left behind! Below is a breakdown of what we will cover during the course: Day 1: Phonemes, Letter names/sounds, sight/heart words Day 2: Look-Think-Say strategy, Closed syllable and short vowel sounds Day 3: Focus on the “f, d, r, m, s, t” sounds, Finger Stretching strategy Day 4: Focus on the “g, d, f, l, h“ sounds, Digraph “sh” Day 5: Focus on the “b, n, c” sounds and short “u” sound Day 6: Focus on the “k, v, w” sounds and the Digraph “th” Day 7: Focus on the “j, p, x” sounds and the “ch” digraph Day 8: Focus on the “q, y, z” sounds and the “ck” digraph
