Class Experience
In my over 20 years of teaching experience, I have found that children learn best when they are able to experience and express the lesson through all their senses. In this Interactive Phonics Program, students will use chants, hand motions, video and fun strategies to learn and then apply their knowledge of how letters and sounds form words and sentences. I have been a Dyslexia Specialist for Lamar CISD school district in Texas for 6 years and then a private Dyslexia tutor for the past 2 years. I’m trained in the Region 4 Dyslexia Intervention Program (similar to Neuhaus) as well as 2 programs from the Really Great Reading Program, Blast and HD Word. I use a combination of the programs to best address Dyslexic students’ needs.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
