In this 4-day craft camp students will learn how to make four mixed media, collage paintings on canvas depicting four fantastic female figures in history while learning facts about their lives!

Description
Class Experience
Camp attendees will learn how to paint on canvas. Camp attendees will learn how to create paper collages. Camp attendees will learn how to use diverse objects for texture. Camp attendees will learn various facts about the lives of Madam CJ Walker, Frances Perkins, Katherine Johnson and Mary Walker. Camp attendees will learn facts about American History. Camp attendees will learn the joy of crafting. Camp attendees will learn artistic expression skills. Camp attendees will work on fine motor skills.
I present my historical information on my experience as an African-American woman and research capabilities. My masters degree in Social Work where I am trained to handle and manage difficult situations and information. I have also taken undergraduate courses in African-American history. I have 10 years of professional experience working with primarily African-American populations in foster care which also equips me to handle delicate matters with professionalism and tact.
Student will allow paintings to dry and then coat them with Mod Podge after class.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher will ask review questions at the beginning of class about the previous week's figure.
45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
We will be covering historical figures throughout American history, in order to be accurate and give students a fuller understanding of the contributions made by these individuals, I will have to address racism, sexism and intolerance. I will do so in a very gentle and conscientious manner. My goal is to honor the memories of these individuals therefore, much of the focus will remain in the honoring.
