What's included
1 live meeting
1 hrs 30 mins in-class hours per weekHomework
1 hour per week. Prior to attending their first session, learners will need to submit a character sheet for review. This must be done at least 48 hours in advance. They only need to do this once. There will be some restrictions on character creation, which will be noted in the class. If your learner would like me to create their character for them, please give me advance notice and I will start the conversation with them about who they want to play. Between each session, the teacher may post updates. The learners must be able and willing to read these updates and reply where needed in a timely manner.Class Experience
Calling all adventurers! We play once a week in this interactive D&D game. The teacher acts as the Dungeon Master and presents challenges to the learners every week with interesting locations, monsters, and social encounters. A little experience playing is required. Learners should understand how to navigate their character sheet prior to joining. If your learner is interested in learning how to play, you should check out my other class, Dungeons and Dragons for Beginners: Dungeon in the Shadowbraid. Learners can create their own characters or use one provided for them upon request. Learners must have a free Dungeons & Dragons Beyond account. They will be given a campaign link in class to create their character. Most content is allowed for character creation with a few restrictions as listed inside the classroom. The classroom discussion boards are active with posts. Your learner must be able and willing to read posts from the teacher between live meetings. During the class, students must be able to use a web browser as we are using Owlbear.Rodeo for visual aid. Owlbear.Rodeo requires no login for the students and does not collect their data. Welcome to Barovia, where not all is what it seems! The vampire known as Lord Strahd von Zarovich has brought you to this place as a plaything. Will you succumb to darkness or escape? Fight or Friend horror monsters like werewolves, vampires, and ghosts as you travel across the map searching for a way to overcome Strahd. Each week builds off of events from the previous week. New players will be integrated so that everyone is able to play without having been present at every session. This ongoing class mixes quests from miscellaneous sources and features roleplay and combat. Refund policy: This class uses Outschool's regular refund policy. I would like to clarify here that if I need to cancel a class, you will be fully refunded. If your learner misses a class, I will offer a full refund the first two times. Subsequent times will only be a half refund. Teacher cancellations: Outside of this class, I work a full-time job and have a toddler. There are times I must cancel less than 24 hours in advance. I do my best not to do this, but emergencies and illnesses still hit at any time. Thank your for your understanding.
Learning Goals
Learners will create a shared story with each other. By doing this, they will learn how to collaborate with others, problem solve and workshop solutions, engage creatively with one another, and learn how to speak with others in a fun and safe environment.
