Class Experience

This class is a Dungeons & Dragons campaign. It will use the 5th Edition rules and will incorporate situations that require critical thinking, teamwork, problem-solving, communication, role-playing, and imagination. The student should have a foundation of the basic rules of 5th Edition, but new players are welcome as well. Resources and references will be provided as needed, to facilitate a better understanding of the rules and game mechanics.

This adventure will take the players from 3rd to 5th level. We will use dndbeyond.com for creating and tracking characters and refer to it during sessions, as needed. The Dungeon Master will use the Foundry virtual tabletop to run the game and Players will each get a custom token to represent their character and experience the game through. Those players comfortable playing on Foundry may control their own tokens in the game. This will require some free account creation. I will use sound effects, custom maps, animations, dynamic lighting and other virtual tools to enhance the experience.

The six-part series will involve this rough outline. It is intentionally vague, so as to not give away the story or potential progression.

Week 1: There will be a short meet and greet and then the players will dive into the story. They will have the opportunity to choose from a few different tasks or areas of interest. They will be introduced to their epic quest here.

Week 2: Depending on the choices from week 1, the players will be investigating some new territory and be faced with some tough challenges, and maybe make a new friend/s.

Week 3: If the players are willing there are some mysteries to explore and secrets to uncover. The potential to unlock a Lost Art of magic will arise, depending on the player's previous successes.

Week 4: Puzzles, riddles, and problem-solving. This will likely be a very RP and decision heavy session. Bring your lore skills (Arcana, Religion, History, and Nature) all you smarty pants characters.

Week 5: Depending on what mysteries and puzzles the players uncover, they will get access to some special magical items and powers to help them in their final quest.

Week 6: The culmination of all of the group's hard work comes to a head here as the group will face the most challenging foe yet!

**Note**
If you wish to keep this story going when this 6 part class ends, I can schedule an Ongoing class meeting through one of my Ongoing Adventure classes. Additionally, the group can choose to simply run this class again, going from 5th to 7th level and progressing further in the story. I have almost 50 years of D&D experience to draw from!

***PLEASE READ***
Guidelines: All sources (except Strixhaven material) are acceptable for character creation, as long as it is published D&D material. Playtest sources will be considered on a case by case basis and require approval. All characters must use the Point Buy or Standard Array method for Ability Score Generation and use the Fixed Hit Points option. The Character should start at 3rd level. Feats and Multiclassing are allowed but must follow requirements. No Homebrew material outside of my own is allowed at the start, but may be considered in the future.
Learning Goals
To have fun while learning to work in a group, solve problems, think critically, use creativity and imagination, and did I mention have fun? Additionally, this adventure and style is designed to help players delay gratification, face consequences for actions, and see the benefits of making decisions and taking action.

Parental Guidance
There is simulated combat, conflict, and narration that occurs in D&D. None of this will be especially graphic and will only serve to set the scene and experience. It will be very age-appropriate.

I will use dndbeyond.com and FoundryVTT, primarily. You are not required to use them, but they really do enhance the experience and are free.

I have been playing D&D since I was 7 years old. It has been a huge part of my growth, development, and entertainment. I'm a skilled, role-player, narrator, and storyteller with almost 50 years of experience. I have a very patient and enthusiastic nature and make the class as welcoming and comfortable as possible. This isn't just a game to me, but a passion. I think this is a profound experience and can facilitate such growth and foster bonds of friendship that can last a lifetime.
